Job Title: Core Support Engineer

Dept: Core Applications

Position Location: 1000 St. Albans Dr.; Raleigh, NC


Your impact:


As the Core Support Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to use your strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills as well as your IT aptitude and knowledge to support IT infrastructure, the design, setup, maintenance, integration, and optimization for on premise servers, core-processing systems, and off premise systems. You'll ensure the smooth operation of IT centric services in order to provide maximum performance and availability for the business, our members, employees, clients, and partners. You'll provide focused technical support, with guidance from senior team members, for datacenter technologies such as servers, storage, backups, and core applications. You'll also be assisting other engineers with technical projects and operational support activities.



The contributions you can anticipate making:


Performing daily monitoring of core applications infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance of systems by reviewing logs, verifying systems integrity, escalating discovered issues with senior team members, and driving remediation activities.


Supporting the Core Applications team with the on-going development and maturation of IT enterprise systems management processes and operation while aligning with all business activities and goals.


Assisting in the data gathering, design implementation, and documentation of small/medium size IT based projects specific to core systems.


Participating in solution engineering activities including concept definition, requirements analysis, design, development, integration, installation, operations, maintenance, and decommissioning.


Performing application installation, set-up/configuration, producing and documenting process flows, automating routine tasks, and managing application upgrades to provide high availability for the members, business customers, partners, and vendors.


Providing Tier 2 level incident support by investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving any issues as well as responding to any system outages.


Continually identifying, assessing, and escalating technology deficiencies to the Engineering team.


Quantifying and modeling impact characteristics within the company to establish meaningful, actionable impact categories.



Assisting with IT infrastructure performance and core systems performance tunning.


Participating in an on-call rotation as a key team member in a 24x7 processing environment

Experience:


Three years' experience with the implementation, operation, and support of enterprise core systems technologies (Jack Henry and IBM); four years preferred.


Experience with scripting, HTML, MS-Office, and Visio are preferred.


Experience with the technological aspects of a depository institution is highly desirable.


Education:


Formal training and education in technology related studies.


Related college degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
